Our Approach

Read the terrain. Pick the line. Make the run.

It's the way we think about the work, and it comes down to six plain steps — from understanding your business to supporting the transition after the decision is made.

The Six Steps

How an engagement runs.

Understand the Business

Before we search, staff, or advise, we clarify the situation: what the business is trying to accomplish, what the role really requires, where the risk sits, and which outcomes actually matter.

Assess the Culture

We learn how the organization actually operates — its values, its decision rights, how leaders work with each other. Whether we're evaluating a candidate, selecting an interim, or shaping a mandate, the cultural read is what separates a decision that lasts from one that unwinds in a quarter.

Define the Outcome

Together we set the objectives, the mandate, or the role — including how success will be measured and who is responsible for what. You leave this stage knowing exactly where we're headed.

Execute the Work

We run the search, deploy the talent, or do the advisory work. Discretion is the default and communication is consistent: you should never have to ask us for a status update.

Evaluate the Options

We reduce the uncertainty so you can decide with a clear head. By the end of this stage you'll know who belongs in the seat, which moves the business can carry, and what the realistic trade-offs are.

Support the Transition

We stay through onboarding, implementation and handoff until the business can carry the work without us. We remain accountable through placement, implementation, and transition — not simply through the point of recommendation.

On Timing

Pace matched to the work.

Interim talent can often start within days. Search milestones are measured in weeks, with timing influenced by the role, market, and client decision process. Strategy engagements are scoped around the work required to produce a durable result.

We keep things moving because momentum compounds — a well-run process protects candidate interest, board confidence and team morale. But speed is never the point on its own. We would rather tell you a search will take another three weeks than hand you a slate you shouldn't hire from.

And we don't tell you only what you want to hear. If a candidate who looks strong on paper is unlikely to succeed in your environment, or a cash plan won't survive the next covenant test, you hear it from us early — while there is still room to act.

How We Operate

The principles under every engagement

Integrity & Candor

We'd rather have one uncomfortable conversation early than let a company operate on false confidence.

One Team, One Run

No silos. You get the firm on the problem, not a single rep guarding a single service line.

People First

A few conversations in, it should feel like we've worked inside your company for years.

Momentum

We keep the work moving, because a process that stalls costs candidates, credibility and time.

Commitment

We stay until the change holds and the business can move forward on its own.

Execution

One more call, one level deeper. You'll feel it in how we work.

Questions

About working with us

How long does an engagement take?

Interim talent can often start within days. Search milestones are measured in weeks, with timing influenced by the role, market, and client decision process. Strategy engagements are scoped around the work required to produce a durable result.

What makes your process different?

We understand the business and the culture before we act, so we solve the right problem. We keep the work moving once the route is set. And we remain accountable through placement, implementation, and transition — not simply through the point of recommendation.

Does the same process apply to search, staffing and strategy?

The six steps hold across all three, but the depth changes. A two-week contract placement compresses the middle steps considerably. A CFO search or a turnaround engagement works through each one deliberately.

Who will we actually work with?

A founder is involved in every engagement. We're a small firm on purpose — the people you meet in the first conversation are the people doing the work.

Let's map your terrain.

The first conversation costs nothing and tells you plenty. Bring the challenge — we'll show you the line.
